Stand Out with Your Marketing Efforts

All real estate agents know they need to market their business – that isn’t exactly breaking news. With that said, you can’t really expect to find great results if you market in the same way as every other agent in town. How are you going to stand out if your plan is the same as everyone else’s plan? No – that’s not going to work. Instead, you’ll need to find a way to differentiate yourself from the pack, so you can secure more clients and grow your business.

Start Thinking

Naturally, the challenge here is to come up with marketing ideas that are at least unusual, if not completely unique. That’s going to require that you take some time to think about what it is that makes you stand out as an individual in the world of real estate. Why are you different than the rest? You should build your marketing campaign around something that is going to allow you to be memorable and attractive in the eyes of prospective clients.

At this point, you’ll want to rule out all of the standard characteristics that nearly every real estate agent promotes. Things like being an excellent communicator and a tough negotiator are important, of course, but they aren’t going to help you stand out. Those are traits that every real estate agent claims to possess, so they aren’t going to do much for you in the way of turning heads. Try to dig deeper into your personality to pull something out that is meaningful and authentic.

Offer a Perk

Chances are, you charge a very similar fee for your services to the other agents in your area. That’s just how real estate works. You don’t really want to compete on price – as in trying to undercut all of the other agents – as doing so will leave you with very little profit on each deal. Instead, you may consider offering interesting perks to your clients as a way of drawing them in.

What this perk looks like is going to depend on the type of agency you are trying to run, and what your marketing strategy looks like overall. It could be something as simple as discounts or freebies that you negotiate with other local businesses, or it could be something significant like a free trip for selling a house. Whatever the case, spend some time developing your entire plan so it fits together nicely and makes sense when you present it to potential clients.

Be Bold

Perhaps the most important thing to keep in mind with your marketing efforts is that it is okay – and encouraged – to be bold. While you never want to turn anyone away by using marketing tactics that are too aggressive, or offensive, you shouldn’t be afraid to stand out from the pack. If you want results that are better than what everyone else is achieving, you have to be bold enough to attempt marketing techniques that others aren’t trying.
